HOW AM I SAVED?

The purpose of a "journey" is to reach a destination. At 1J13/CWO, we firmly believe that the journey is helpful and beneficial for personal growth and wellbeing, but must have a certain "endpoint" in mind, even if the point is in itself another beginning.

If you are at a point in your search for Truth where you are feeling God's pull on your heart, it is time to take Him at His word and allow Him to save you and guide you in that Truth. Follow the guidelines below, and the bible links provided, to "test the waters" so to speak... and if you make a decision for Jesus today, please let us know. There are things that we need to share further, like finding a church that will lift you up and train you in Jesus' ways and teachings. Also, as the heavens rejoice, we want to rejoice, too, that another brother or sister has been added to the "census of the Kingdom."

Our prayers go with you in your quest. -- pastor rick

1. ACCEPT THE REALITY OF YOUR SIN -- Romans 3:23

Since Adam and Eve tasted the forbidden fruit so many years ago, we have all been born with the pretense of rebellion. We are, by nature, fairly selfish and self-centered as human beings. As many twelve-step programs prescribe, in order to face our problem, we must first admit that we have a problem. Sin is our problem, and we must realize that we are powerless to overcome it on our own.

2. BELIEVE THAT JESUS PAID THE PRICE FOR THAT SIN -- Romans 6:23

If you've come to this point in your quest for personal truth and fulfillment, this is the next step: Believe what God has said. Believe what Jesus has done. He came to this planet to show us God, and to die for our sin. By His death, He freed us from the penalty of sin, from the power of sin, and ultimately, when He returns, the very presence of sin. Believe it, and let this new train of thought make a difference in your life.

3. CONFESS YOUR SIN, CONFESS HIM AS LORD -- Romans 10:9-11

A simple "sinner's prayer" will not erase your sin, but the honest and authentic confession of repentance and longing will bring salvation in the name of Jesus. Pray like this:

"Father God, I realize that I am a sinner, and that I cannot do this life on my own. I've searched for truth, and I know that You are the Truth I've been looking for. Forgive me of my sins, the sin that Jesus died for. Thank You for sending Him, for caring enough about me to die for me. Fill me with new life, new purpose. Thank You for Your Truth. Thank You for Jesus. I give my life to You, God. In Jesus' name, Amen."

4. TELL SOMEONE ABOUT YOUR DECISION -- Romans 1:16

Now that you have reached an "endpoint," it's time to start again. Tell someone about what God has done in your life. Tell us; tell a respected pastor or teacher; tell your family and friends. It's time to hook up with people who are also on the journey, and who've also made this step you've just taken!
